Yes!!, DIY Sundays is back. After a month and a half absence i have decided to return my DIY Sundays posts. This is a little background for my new follower, initially my DIY (Do It Yourself) Sundays posts was based on my Sunday beauty routine. However, it has evolved into tips based on a variety of topics. I hope you find the post helpful.
Today i want to talk about clothes. I came across this guide entitled:How often Clothes Should be Washed. By the way, do you know how often your clothes should be washed? Or are you like me? I basically wash my clothes as soon as it appears dirty. After looking at the list I was amazed by my non - compliance to the suggested guideline.
Here is a quick guide to help you determine how frequently you need to launder key warm-weather clothing pieces, barring stains or especially sticky days, that is.

OH Good! I am right on track! Except I re-wear dresses, cami's and T's so long as I wasn't sweating in them or spilled red wine on them. Generally I wash my cloths once every week and a half and my sheets/pillow cases/towels every Friday. (For fresh weekend bed lounging)
ReplyDeleteAnother great tip: Don't put things in the dryer-- especially bras, panties, dresses and cami's-- they last SO much longer if you just let them air dry on a rack-- if your space is small.. Hang damp cloths on hangers and hang them on the shower curtain rod. :) Hanging your clothes to dry saves you a lot of money too, as the integrity of the garment last longer, and you have to run the dryer less often.
Very interesting. I don't generally wear my clothes that often between washings. I'm closer to your schedule than the recommended frequency. BTW, this is the third post about laundry I've read this week. Must be on everyone's mind with all the hot, sticky days we have been having.

I thought this list was very interesting. Thank you for sharing. Some of the items I was the same on but others I washed sooner.

I follow the recommended list for most things. I always thought I was a big ol' slob for waiting 3-4 wears before washing my jeans. Know I know that I'm doing just what I should be. :P (Still feel kind of slobby though. :P
ReplyDeleteI'm stopping by from Comment Love day! You have a lovely blog! I love the background! So fun and whimsical!

Hi all the way from Australia!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog through the hop.
With my cheapo clothes I wash them after one or two wears. Anything that I love, I try to avoid washing too often so it lasts longer.
I pretty much wash clothes after each wear. I don't see how one can re-wear jeans without washing them. Does no one else get the saggy butt that I seem to get if I don't wash them? (This could just be, however, because I have very little butt to begin with...) lol
ReplyDeleteI am almost on track with the recommended washing. I never knew that about dress pants though. It's good to know for the hubs. I agree with Ryan, the dryer is evil for long lasting clothes lol. When I'm wearing jeans, I don't dry them either. I've always hung them to dry. I really should put a line outside or make a drying rack. Thanks for these tips love!
ReplyDeleteInteresting! I usually do laundry once a week or so. And wash my clothing when they look grungy and dirty!!
ReplyDeleteI got to show my husband this list!..lol.. I do laundry twice a week.
