The most prominent question of the last 10 years has been, where were you on September 11? The events of September 11 has impacted the entire world. I remember vividly as a teenage standing in a Canadian store seeing the second plane flying into the tower. I thought that it was a movie. So, i asked the cashier the name of the movie. He looked at me solemnly. It was then someone in the store responded that it was not a movie. It was real. Immediately, i was sick in my stomach.
The world changed that day. Whether we like to admit it or not, we started to fear anything unfamiliar. We started to search people's faces for any sign of deceit. We started to wonder could he, she, they or them be carrying a bomb. The innocence of the 90's were over. The world was now a place to be feared. The world became hard, callous and uncaring. This is the legacy of 9-11. As i type tears are filling my eyes. Yet, unlike so many of you, i was not affected by the lost of a love one.
I cannot begin to imagine how those who we directly affected felt throughout those long years. My heart goes out to you.
Now, the question will be: where were you on May 1, 2011?
My Positive Thought for you Today is:
“Remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible but in the end, they always fall -- think of it, ALWAYS.” | |

It definitely was such a sad, unbelievable day. My youngest daughter was 6 then and she's 16 now and still remembers it like it was yesterday. Horrible, because all you want for your kids are happy memories of childhood. I try to be positive, caring and giving every day and I feel by doing this I bring a little bit of light to the world around me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your blog, it is inspiring and beautiful. I'm honoured to be part of your blog hop.

Thanks for hosting. I already follow you guys!
ReplyDeleteI pretty much had the same reaction as yours when I saw 9/11 on tv. I was in the Philippines, on the phone talking to my bff. We were watching the same thing on tv and could not believe our eyes. I remember thinking, "is this the start of the end of the world?" In a way it was...at least the end of the world as we knew it. In a way the terrorists succeeded in planting fear in everyone. I was afraid. On May 1st, I was home with my family, now here in Chicago. But sadly, again, I felt fear. After all, the death of Bin Laden is not the death of a hateful ideology. We just have to keep praying that Love will conquer Fear sooner than later...

New Follower from Wordless Wednesday. My hubby and I actually had been talking about this. We collected magazines and newspapers for the kids (who were babies) the weeks following 9/11, and I bought the newspapers with 5/1 headlines also. Hope to use them for history classes with them.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week

Hi!! Thanks for stopping by and following Frazzled Mama. I'm following back.
ReplyDeleteOh! I forgot to answer your question. I remember the attacks well because I was on leave from the Air Force that day; awaiting mattress deliveries and was home. I was not recalled from leave but, was ready to go to assist in the recovery or strap on a M-16 to stand watch.
ReplyDeleteOn Sunday, May 1st as AF retiree, SAHM, gardener, home schooler, and farmer: I found myself saying many prayers with my sons because one day it will be their turn to don a uniform perhaps and give their lives in scarifice in the name of freedom.
Respectfully,
Mal
