I keep reading the comments that says 'congrats on having a successful blog'. I have had the conversation with my mom about what it really means to have a successful blog. I have learnt in my 29 years on this earth that success is relative. The definition of success varies depending on an individual's perceptions and beliefs. Do I think my blog is successful? The answer for me is neither yes or no. For me, my blog was successful the day I gained my first follower and the day I had my first blog comment. For me, the fact that I had one other person reading my posts, besides me, meant that my blog was successful.
I don't look at the number of followers, or the stats, or the number of blog friends, or the awards to gage my success in blogging. Yes, they are important; I don't deny that. But, would I still be blogging if I did not have the validation (the proverbial pat on the back)? My answer is hell yes.
In Jamaica blogging is not a common practice. It is not apart of the culture. Many don't understand it and so many don't see the need for it. Besides my immediate family, most persons in my everyday life don't know I blog. Therefore, my audience is from around the world. They are people I have never met and might never meet. But, we are all joined together by our love for the written word, our personal triumphs and failures.
So my friends, this has been a journey and what I love about this journey is that I cannot predict the ending. I have said this countless times, the possibilities are limitless.
Have a fabulous Monday!!!!!!
